Castle tour along Deeside
There are over 300 ruined and active castle dating back to the 14th century in the North East of Scotland. In between there are many other sites including stone circles, waterfalls and distilleries.
The area has lot of examples of amazing castles, distilleries and scenery combined with quality accommodation for visitors. There are numerous cafes and restaurants offering local fayre to suit any preference.
Royal Deeside extends from Aberdeen up the the Cairngorm Nature reserve and the Castle in Balmoral. Good examples of the history of the area include Crathes castle near Banchory. Crathes is the ancestral home of the Burnett family since 1323, when King Robert the Bruce gave the land at Crathes to Alexander as a reward for his support in various battles.
The tour can also encompass Burn o Vat walk, Falls of Feugh and Royal Lochnagar distillery in Braemar if time allows.
