Follow in the footsteps of our forebears and head 'doon the watter' to discover some of the stunning islands of the Clyde and the shorelines of Argyll. Explore gardens, capture castles and enjoy gourmet food aboard this 6-night cruise. #YCW2020
In the days before package holidays took the masses to Mediterranean shores, the people of Scotland’s industrial cities spent their precious leisure time “doon the watter” exploring the coastal towns, islands and sea lochs of Argyll and the Firth of Clyde. In 2020, Visit Scotland’s Year of Coasts & Waters, now is the time to rediscover these gems; the contrasting islands of Arran, Bute and Cumbrae, quaint towns such as Helensburgh, Dunoon, Rothesay and Millport, and Loch Long, Loch Goil and Gare Loch - the stunning lochs that delve deep into the Arrochar Alps. Cruise the picturesque Kyles of Bute, visit Inveraray on Loch Fyne, head south to Ailsa Craig - a volcanic plug of a long extinct volcano where traditionally all curling stones were quarried. Follow the journeys made by the old steam puffers as they plied their trade from Glasgow’s Broomielaw to the towns and isles of Argyll. There are gardens to discover, historic houses and castles to visit, distilleries to sample and opportunities for the more adventurous to walk, climb or cycle round an island!
Choose to cruise on-board our original vessel - Glen Massan (a converted wooden-hulled fishing boat) or on our newest vessel Glen Shiel (purpose built steel-hulled small cruise ship).
Both ships have four of a crew, will endeavour to ensure you have a truly wonderful cruise. Our chefs prepare all meals on-board making use of locally sourced and seasonal produce.
