Travel 'over the sea to Skye' - a jewel in the crown of Scotland. Stunning photo opportunities galore! Loch Ness; Urquhart castle; Eilean Donan; Skye bridge; The Cuillin mountains Portree; Old Man of Storr; Kilt Rock; The Quiraing; All in a day!
This must be one of the most amazing day trips available in Scotland - if not the world! It is a long day trip (approx 12 hours) serving as a ‘taster’ of what Skye has to offer. We do cram in a lot in a short space of time - if you wish to have a more leisurely visit and spend more time at each location (and we guarantee you will!), as well as visiting more awe-inspiring locations why not take this trip over 2 days with an overnight stop on Skye. Please contact us for details.
URQUHART CASTLE
We journey along Loch Ness taking in the sumptuous views of this world-famous and iconic stretch of water. You will glimpse Urquhart Castle on the headland some time before we reach it after going through Drumnadrochit. We will stop for photos of the impressive ruins and gaze out over the loch for any signs of disturbance in the water...
GLENMORISTON
Next stop is Glenmoriston with the lovely River Moriston running over the rocks into Loch Ness under the original Thomas Telford bridge. Also, take a look at Columba’s Well and the ‘Old Smiddy’.
We then climb through the beautiful Glenmoriston then descend into Jacobite country at Glen Shiel to the west coast and the sea loch of Loch Duich, home to possibly the most photographed castle in Scotland – Eilean Donan, where there will be a chance to stop and refresh before heading of the bridge to Skye.
SKYE, SLIGACHAN/ THE CUILLIN MOUNTAIN RANGE
Once over the Skye Bridge we head to Portree where there is the chance to visit the harbour, the ‘Lump’ (and maybe do a little souvenir shopping?). We then continue north to The Old Man of Storr, the Trotternish Ridge and The Quiraing, all amazing geological formations to wonder at. The one-day tour heads back to Inverness from here, taking in Loch Carron and Beauly on the way.
