This day tour comprises a number of attractions which are both directly and indirectly connected with Diane Gabaldons hit TV series Outlander. As with all Highland Excursions tours beautiful scenery is mandatory at all points in between.

Heading North stop at Munlochy and visit mystic attraction, the Clootie Well (no admission charged)                                                                  

Visit Beauly Priory, a 12th Century ruinous church building, home to were the Lovat Frasersare buried in the Outlander books                                                           

Travel to Kirkhill and visit Wardlaw Mausoleum, final resting place of the genuine “Old Fox”, Jamie Frasers grandfather (twist to this tale !)

Travel over scenic route Culnakirk Hills to Urquhart Castle which is located upon Loch Ness. The place where Claire saw the waterhorse ?? Castle can be seen from closer up upon payment of an entrance fee                                                                                  

Travel onto Clava Cairns ancient stone circles (no admission fee charged). It is said that these stone circles inspired the mysterious stones featuring in Diane Gabaldons Outlander novels.

Continue onto Culloden Battlefield (free to visit) and visitor centre (fee charged for entrance to a presentation).

Option- Longer day tour, travel to Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore. This i a recreation of a Highland village from the Outlander period. The rent collection scene from series one was actually filmed here

There are a number of quality shopping outlets throughout the routes taken on these tours including potteries, crafts, woollens, art, whiskey, confectionery and more. Just ask your driver

Refreshment Opportunities

There are a number of outlets throughout the route where meals, snacks and hot/cold drinks can be obtained There are many independent cafes/restaurants and the usual chains of fast food outlets. Fine dining is possible but impacts considerably upon time available for touring. The tour vehicle carries complimentary water and snacks
