The Highlights tour will visit;
Scapa Flow – Discover the strategic significance of this large natural harbour, hear of the tragedies and events during both World Wars and the ongoing importance to Orkney’s 21st Century
Yesnaby Cliffs – Orkney’s stunning Atlantic coastline, battered for millennia by sea and storms. Here you will find fossilised evidence of our ancient geology, see a wide range of wildlife and perhaps find one of the world’s rarest flowers.
Skara Brae – Neolithic village dated to 3100bc Preserved for thousands of years under sand and discovered in 1850, this village was inhabited for over 600 years, is the finest example in Europe and is presented exactly as it was when abandoned over 4000 years ago. The modern visitor centre houses further information, a café and gift shop stocking a range of Orkney jewellery, crafts and produce.
Ring of Brodgar – Orkneys largest henge monument, a stone circle measuring over 100m in diameter and dating to around 2800bc.
Ness of Brodgar* – a ‘live’ archaeological ‘dig’, where archeologists and volunteers from around the world carefully excavate an area of land within the ‘Heart of Neolithic Orkney’, a massive complex of monumental Neolithic buildings along with associated “artwork”, pottery, bones and stone tools.*(only available during months of July and August)
Standing Stones of Stenness – Orkney’s oldest Henge monument, dating to 3100bc. Smaller ring at 30m diameter but much larger stones.
Italian Chapel, beautifully preserved and created from basic materials by Italian prisoners of war during World War 2 who were transferred to Orkney to assist in building the Churchill Barriers.

St Magnus Cathedral – Known as ‘The Light of the North’ the 12th Century Cathedral sits dominant in the centre of our capital City, Kirkwall. Built in memory of Earl Magnus, the Cathedral was fully restored in the early 1900’s.
