Island Cruising offers four and six day cruises around the magical islands of the Hebrides. A former scientific marine research vessel, the MV Cuma offers comfortable accommodation and warm hospitality for up to 12 passengers. Captained by experienced seaman Murdo MacDonald, Island Cruising transports visitors to islands across the Outer Hebrides including the World Heritage Site of St Kilda, the Flannan Isles, North Rona, Sula Sgeir, the Uists and Barra. Cruises allow passengers plenty of time to explore off shore can be arranged to accommodate the specific interests of the group whether it be diving, kayaking or hill walking. Passengers also have the chance of encountering a breathtaking array of local wildlife from vast seabird colonies to incredible marine creatures including whales, dolphins and porpoises.
The galley is equipped with gas cookers, microwave, fridge and deep freeze. There is also a tumble drier provided.
A variety of cereals and a choice of any cooked breakfast up to a full Scottish, pack lunches and main meals are provided.
The wheelhouse is well equipped and the instrumentation includes radar, two GPS navigators, two VHF radios and one DSC controller, Navtex, MF single sideband radio, autopilot and depth sounder. There is a diving compressor feeding the bottle bank on deck. There is also a dive ladder and tender with outboard motor.
The Cuma's skipper, Murdo Macdonald has a lifetime’s knowledge of the Outer Hebrides' seaboard. Depending on your interests and the weather conditions, Murdo will choose the best route. Cathie is renowned for her excellent cuisine and generous servings. Alcohol is not available on board but there is no problem with bringing your own. If you are getting picked up there is no problem stopping for supplies whilst at Stornoway.
