A great day of mountains, lochs and glens on the way through stunning Highland scenery to the Isle of Skye including the dramatic Cuillin mountains and the beautiful harbour town of Portree.
At Eilean Donan Castle we explore its ancient past with time for a visit into the castle to discover its secrets before we cross the bridge to the Isle of Skye, where the spectacular Cuillin mountains greet us in the distance. Our journey through the Isle of Skye takes us to the base of the Red Hills and the dramatic Black Cuillin mountain ridge. We stop near the old bridge at Sligachan (great place to take a short walk) where we get the best view of the peaks of the Black Cuillin.
Arriving in Portree we are greeted by a beautiful harbour surrounded by a scenic and historic town. With a stop for at least 1½ hours, you have lots of time to enjoy a late lunch, explore the harbour and discover the Hebridean culture of the town before we begin our journey back to Inverness.
The Hebridean Explorer (John Alasdair Macdonald) is an independent tour guide specialising in private guided tours for small groups (up to 3) from Inverness and Edinburgh covering the Scottish Highlands and Islands including the Isle of Skye, the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland along with Scotch whisky, Highland clans and history tours.
