This tour passes through the UNESCO World Heritage area of the "New" Town which dates back to 1767! It is the largest Georgian example of town planning anywhere in the world. We see many of the elegant homes and finish up at a "secret" village.

Tours are at 9.30am and 12.30am most days. Please check website for availability.

We pass Princes Street which commands the fine views over Princes Street gardens and up to the Castle, Rose Street which has many fine dining options hidden away and George Street which has the designer shops.

We will see many of the elegant homes still inhabited within the New Town. The area was designed with large private gardens throughout and many residents still enjoy the privilege of these lovely green spaces.

We finish up at the "secret" village. With the Water of Leith providing a pretty stream flowing through this beautful peaceful village, nobody would guess that these tranquil homes are actually within a stones throw from the city centre.

We finish at the Dean Bridge which is a short (five minute) walk from the West End of the city centre.

Edinburgh Welcome Tours

Welcome to Edinburgh! My name is Helen Alexander and I set up my company “Edinburgh Welcome Tours” because I've been invited to homes all around the world and so I want to welcome visitors from everywhere to my own home town. I love my city of Edinburgh and I like to show it from a local viewpoint. My favourite places are unusual ones that are off the beaten track. Amazingly they are often missed by many visitors here. My aim is to show you these parts of Edinburgh as well as showing you the incredible history, culture and sights we have to offer here.

Opening times

Tours at 9.30am and 12.30pm most days.
