A connection with the Picts in the ancient Scottish centre of Angus to see their fascinating symbol stones by the wayside and in a museum. After a woodland walk to see waterfalls, lunch, a trip to Glen Prosen and on to intriguing hill forts.

  Visit the Pictish stones museum to get connection with an ancient past and marvel at their artistry.

-       Walk along a deep gorge with a smoking waterfall  Grading: Easy walk but great care needed near big drops. Distance: 1km. Height Gained: 30m

-       Drive up the unspoilt beauty of Glen Isla to lunch in a drover’s inn.

-       Onward drive to Glen Prosen along quiet and very attractive back roads in this little visited, beautiful glen.

-       Visit the memorial to Scott of the Antarctic in Glen Prosen.

-        Visit the twin hilltop Pictish settlements of Caterthun: one is a defensive hill fort, the other a mysterious site of ringed embankments perhaps used for ceremonial purposes. Grading: Easy gentle climb up muddy and heathery tracks. Distance: 3kms. Height Gained: 100m

-       Visit the wayside Pictish stones at Aberlemno before returning to base.

Cost includes museum admission, but excludes food and drink.
