We will begin our tour outside of St Giles Cathedral where you will be introduced to the history of Scotland’s beautiful capital. We will pass through St Giles Cathedral to learn more about the city's religious history and discover how it has changed throughout the years. From here we will make our way up the Royal Mile, making several stops along the way to discover the many hidden passage ways (locally known as closes) which run off this infamous street. We will move onward towards Edinburgh’s Crown Jewel, the castle itself, here your guide will run through thousands of years worth of history about this iconic fortress that essentially formed an entire city.
We will then begin our descent back down from the castle to the vibrant area of the Grassmarket. Here you will hear tales of Edinburgh’s dark and gruesome past. We will also make sure to point out a number of delicious eateries and lively pubs for those looking to sample some of the local produce. A short walk away is Greyfriars Kirkyard and it is here that your guide will tell you one of Edinburgh’s most popular tales of a small dog who captured the hearts of Scotland’s capital city.
