Steam-hauled from Carlisle via Settle and Preston to Carnforth
Travel by special steam-hauled train over the scenic Settle & Carlisle railway on Saturday 03rd September 2022.
(The name of the engine will be released nearer the planned departure date.)
The train is diesel-hauled south along the West Coast Main Line over Beattock Summit to Carlisle where the steam locomotive takes over.
The Settle & Carlisle line heads south along the Eden Valley to Appleby then climbs to Ais Gill Summit. The train steams through many tunnels and over numerous spectacular viaducts including the famous Ribblehead Viaduct in the Yorkshire Dales. Descending along Ribblesdale the train passes through Settle and at Hellifield takes the line through Blackburn to Preston.
The route then north through Lancaster to Carnforth from where diesel-haulage takes over for the return journey over Shap Summit and through Penrith to rejoin the outward route at Carlisle.

Unfortunately our vintage rolling stock cannot accomodate wheelchairs. We can however accomodate guests with mobility issues using ramps to avoid steps.
