The Road to the Isles from Loch Rannoch to the Isle of Skye, follows classic ancient droving trails to savour places like Loch Ossian and Glen Affric. One of our most popular Group Tours with early booking highly recommended.
This trek will take you into the heart of the Scottish Highlands through the history and folklore of areas still the haunt of eagles, deer and other wildlife.
The first 2 days traverse the edge of Rannoch Moor on time-honoured paths used by drovers and military men alike before crossing the historic Corrieyairack Pass to reach the Great Glen and Loch Ness. On through Glen Affric, that most romantic of highland glens, leading us to the sea at Kintail. The final leg of our Highland Journey takes us to the old ferry crossing and cattle swimming route at Glenelg, over the sea to Skye for our last walk, exploring the deserted clearance villages of Boreraig and Suisnish.
This tour takes place in some of the more remote and wilder areas of Scotland. Accommodation on two nights (1st & 4th) is at eco-friendly wilderness hostels where there is no road access. When staying at these hostels it will be necessary for you to carry essential overnight items and a share of food in your rucksack.
