I provide comprehensive guided tours of Rousay which are tailored to the specific interests of my guests. I balance archaeology, island history, wildlife and stunning scenic views.
Our tour circles the island at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for flowers, birds, seal, spectacular island views, and a number of the famous archaeological sites.
See our website for detailed information http://rousaytours.co.uk/
We include a visit to Saviskaill for a bit of seal spotting, and if we are extremely lucky an otter or two.
The drive around the island provides you with ssome spectacular scenery and on a clear day, a view of the neighbouring islands from atop of Sourin Brae.
We take a break for lunch at either Saviskaill Beach or while overlooking Midhowe.
As Rousay boasts around 140 archaeological sites, some selection is necessary, and we concentrate on the sites maintained by Historic Scotland: The awesome cairn and broch at Midhowe, then heading off to visit the cairns at the Knowe of Yarso, Blackhammer, and the two-storied taversoe Tuick.
Time permitting you could vist Trumland House Gardens and ake a look around the grounds of this impressive former Laird's house.
After the tour I will drop you back at the Rousay Pier giving you the opportunity to explore the Rousay Heritage Centre and visit the Rousay CraftHub.
