A free walking tour around Edinburgh's historic Old Town during the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe.
During the 2022 Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe (7th August - 28th August), we offer free walking tours of the Royal Mile – the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town.
We'll show you many of the most famous historic sites in the city, and also the out-of-the way corners and hidden places - closes and courtyards, pends and wynds - which you might never discover on your own.
Our guides are all local people with a great enthusiasm for our city and its history, and who love to share their knowledge.
Tours start at 10.30 am and 2 pm from the City Chambers in the High Street. There's no need to book in advance. Just turn up on the day that suits you best.
Important. For the safety of our visitors and guides, we are operating these tours strictly in accordance with the Scottish Government's current Covid-19 guidelines. In particular our tours groups are kept small (if you are in a large group, we may split you into smaller groups, with multiple guides).
