Free history tours of Aberdeen's city centre. Hear about those who have walked these streets before you, from Harry Houdini to Lord Byron. All tours led by an experienced guide. Every weekend this summer. Pay what you think it is worth.
Sure, we all know about the oil and the granite and the weather. But there is a bit more to this city than that. There are stories that you will never have heard. Stories about death, pirates, war, wizards, infra-red telescopes and Lord Byron. And more death.
Those are the stories that we want to share with you.
Welcome to Aberdeen.
Just what we say. The tours are completely free to go on. At the end you can tip your guide, paying them what you think the tour was worth. How long do the tours last?
Tours will last up to an hour and a half.Do I need to book?
No, you just have to turn up at the Mercat Cross in time for the tour.Is there a lot of walking involved? The route is a little over a mile which includes a couple of slightly steeper pavements. However, there are lots of stops and the guide will always go at the pace of the group.
Will the tour be cancelled if it is raining?
Short of Hurricane Bawbags, the show (or the tour) will go on.
