Urquhart Castle, By Drumnadrochit, near Inverness

Scottish Castles

With over well over 400 castles the length and breadth of the country, Scotland is truly a land where the avid castle hunter can indulge their passion to the full.

Scottish castles, many dating back beyond medieval times, come in all shapes and sizes from curtain-wall fortifications designed to withhold against siege engines and canons to tower houses and the later renaissance period Baronial halls built as symbols of status and wealth.

Many of these marvellous structures have fallen into disrepair and lie ruined. Others have been well preserved and continue to be inhabited or made open to the public as museums. Many have been made famous as the backdrop or location of film shoots or through their connection with Royalty.

The aim of this tour is to give you access to tour some of these castles or at the very least to provide you with an unrivalled photoshoot opportunity while giving you a flavour of their history.

The following is a sample itinerary:

Day 1&2 - Ayrshire and South West Scotland.

Day 3 - Edinburgh; Lothian and Fife.

Day 4 - Dundee and North East Scotland.

Day 5 - Grampian and Inverness.

Day 6 - Highland and Loch Ness.

Day 7 - Scone; Stirling and Dumbarton.
