Have a short, taster session in a sea kayak on Shetland waters. No previous experience required. All necessary equipment provided. All trips are weather and sea-state permitting.

Locations are usually decided just a day or two before so we can have the best experience available on the day.

This is a short taster session aimed mainly at absolute beginners who aren't sure they will be able for the activity, or those with young children who do not have the stamina to go on one of our longer trips.

Under 16s have to be accompanied by an adult.

We have a canoe available so you can go out with young family members, and a double kayak so that children can experience kayaking along with an adult, or two adults can share the double if they would prefer that to going out on their own.

Tour company information

Seakayak Shetland

View Mainland Shetland's coastline from a seakayak. No previous experience needed. You will be provided with all equipment, receive some introductory coaching and be guided by well-qualified leaders to explore hidden caves and coves, see wildlife and hear about some of Shetland's history. We do not have a schedule of trips, they are based on bookings received, prevailing sea-state, weather forecast and group preference, where possible. We offer taster and half day sessions. Minimum of 2 for these and day bookings with a minimum of 3 people.

Opening times

We offer trips all year round, Monday to Saturday, during daylight hours. Weather is our main deciding factor. Strong winds may mean trips are postponed or cancelled
