A weekend sail West to East, exploring Shetland's North Mainland. Board in the picturesque village of Walls, and sail to Shetland's capital, Lerwick. No sailing experience required, just a willingness to pitch in and enjoy.
Duration: 2 nights
Board: Walls, Shetland, 10am Saturday 2nd September
Disembark: Lerwick, 10am Monday 4th September
Boarding the Swan 10am Saturday, your stay will begin with a comprehensive safety briefing including how to work the lines on deck and set the sails. We will then put this into practice, enjoying the Swan under sail while we find a picturesque anchorage to spend the night and get to know your crew mates over dinner before turning in for a good night’s sleep.
Sunday will begin with a hearty breakfast; you will need your strength for the halyard hauling you’re about to do! With the sails raised, enjoy your trip and further explore the delights of the Shetland coastline.
As this is a sailing trip, the exact route will be decided by our expert skipper, and weather conditions, but we will look to make a few stops if we can, such as in Rona's Voe, and the islands of Yell or Whalsay. Sunday evening will be spent at anchor, where you can get to know your crew mates better and possibly enjoy a tune.
On Monday, you will complete your trip south to Shetland's capital, Lerwick, disembarking at 10am.
A voyage on Swan is very much a hands-on experience - you are part of her crew, and work as a team to make your voyage happen. All tasks are shared and everyone joins in, from the most to the least experienced. For more details of what to expect on board please refer to our Welcome Aboard leaflet.

There is a high potential to spot a variety of wildlife on this trip so don't forget your binoculars and camera.

When you come aboard the Swan you are embarking on a 'hands on' adventure. Play an active role in sailing and working the ship, build friendships with your crew mates, develop new skills and take in stunning scenery. Sailing trips range from a half day to 14 days and no previous sailing experience is required. Private charter also available by request.
