Spring Watch Mull and Inner Hebrides Cruise
A wildlife-focused Scottish Spring cruise and exploration of Scotland’s beautiful Isle of Mull and the Inner Hebrides on the Hjalmar Bjørge.
April 18th - 24th 2024
Overview
Start the year off properly and come celebrate our first cruise of the season with us on-board the Hjalmar Bjørge. We can promise you a wonderful wildlife-focused week-long cruise and exploration of some of Scotland’s most beautiful and majestic Inner Hebridean islands.
This time of year is often stunning, with great light for photography and good chances in particular of spotting otters and raptors such as white-tailed and golden eagles as well as seabirds and seals. Cetaceans can always make an appearance too, with harbour porpoise and common dolphins the species most likely to be seen at this time.
Destinations for this cruise will be flexible to take advantage of the best conditions and locations making it a true adventure cruise. Along with the wildlife hotspot of the Isle of Mull we will visit other islands that could include for example Jura, Skye or the Small Isles perhaps.
Wherever we take you we can promise you an adventure to remember. We usually anchor in quiet and secluded locations for the night, and you will get the chance to go ashore in our tender so you can explore the islands. We will send you a kit list so you know what to bring, but apart from that all you will need is a sense of adventure.
Outline Itinerary
Guests arrive at the North Pier Pontoons to join the MV Hjalmar Bjorge for 1530 on Thursday 18th April in Oban. Our first afternoon will be spent cruising across to the beautiful Isle of Mull most likely where will we anchor for dinner and perhaps a walk ashore.
This is a true adventure cruise in that the itinerary is not fixed so we can be flexible to take into account conditions of weather and tides. This is in order to maximise your comfort and locations visited, but may include for example, some of the following places;
- Isle of Mull. A special place for wildlife and introduction location for the return of white-tailed eagles to Scotland.
- Isle of Skye. With jagged mountains, coastline, moorland and wildlife galore.
- Isle of Jura. Home to the Paps of Jura and the Corryvreckan whirlpool.
- The Small Isles. Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck; Four islands with very different personalities and geography.
Our final evening will be spent in the vicinity of the Sound of Mull before we head back into Oban after breakfast for your departure on Wednesday 24th April.
