New for 2021, The Big Four Tour showcases the Scottish Highlands' most iconic sights; Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glencoe, Ben Nevis and Loch Ness.
The tour starts at Inverness Bus Station (or from selected Inverness hotels) and is a round trip which lets you experience the following sights, plus lots more!
Glencoe is undoubtedly one of Scotland's most beautiful locations and has formed the backdrop to many films, including: Braveheart; Skyfall; and Harry Potter. On a more sombre note, it was also the location of one of the most treacherous events in Scottish history - the infamous Massacre of Glencoe.
As we drive through the magnificent scenery your guide will fill you in on the enthralling history and geology of the area. We will drive down the Pass of Glencoe as far as the Glencoe Mountain Resort, where we enjoy fantastic views of the area, including over to the instantly recognisable Buachaille Etive Mor.
In addition to the time spent driving through the area we will spend 45 - 60 minutes off the coach.
Ben Nevis viewpoint
At a height of 1345 metres, Ben Nevis is Britain’s tallest, and certainly its most well-known, mountain. Whilst we don’t have enough time to climb it (that takes a day in itself!) we will take you to our favourite vantage point down by the shores of Loch Eil so that you can admire its majesty.
Don't worry if the weather is shrouding the Ben as there is still plenty to see including the amazing Old Boat of Caol, also known as the Corpach shipwreck, which makes for a beautiful picture, whatever the weather. We will spend around 20 minutes here.
The Commando Memorial
This memorial is one of Scotland's most iconic, and is a fitting tribute to the elite forces who gave their lives during WWII. There are stunning 360o panoramic views around the memorial, where we will spend around 15 minutes.
We time our stop here to coincide with the crossing of the "Hogwart's Express" steam train over the bridge; an absolute must for Harry Potter fans! There is also an Jacobite memorial and visitor centre (own cost) which you can visit here. We will spend around 1 1/4 hours here.
Loch Ness at Fort Augustus
On the way home we will stop in Fort Augustus, a charming village on the shores of Loch Ness. A short walk gives you stunning views of this world-famous body of water, and also of the canal locks which cut through the heart of the village. This will be your opportunity to pick up some souvenirs if you wish.
This is one of the highlights of the journey home - a viewpoint at 400m which has an interesting history!
Loch Ness at Dores
If you haven't had enough of our superb Highland scenery yet then you're in luck as there is more to come at Dores Beach - the view of Loch Ness here was recently voted one of the top views in the whole of the UK! This is home to Steve Feltham, aka the Nessie Hunter, who you can perhaps say hello to...unless he is out hunting Nessie of course! There is also a great bar here to raise a glass to a terrific day out!
