Blackness Castle - Fort William

OUTLANDER TOUR FROM EDINBURGH - DAY TRIP (PRIVATE)

The ultimate day tour for fans of the Outlander series. Discover the most iconic locations from the Scottish series and step foot in the same places Jamie and Claire have been and travel back in time.

MIDHOPE CASTLE: This 16th century castle, inherited by Jamie from his parents, and residence of his sister, is one of the most mythical places in the series. Known in Outlander as Lallybroch, it has been the protagonist of many scenes during several seasons, witnessing the childhood of our protagonist as well as the romance lived with Claire. For Outlander fans, this is a must-see.

BLACKNESS CASTLE: Overlooking the Firth of Forth, this castle is also known as the ship that never sailed (due to its shape). In Outlander this 15th century fortress, once a prison, serves as Black Jack Randall's base in Fort William where Jamie is also imprisoned. One of the most iconic scenes takes place in this location - do you know which scene (admission not included, £6).

LINLITHGOW PALACE: The entrance and corridors of this ruined palace are used for Wentworth Prison where Jamie was imprisoned. It was once the residence of kings and queens of the House of Stuart and saw the birth in 1542 of Mary, Queen of Scots. This magnificent 15th century palace with its elegant courtyard still exudes charm and glamour (admission not included, £6).

DOUNE CASTLE: This incredible castle near Stirling plays a very important role in the series, as Leoch Castle and residence of the McKenzie clan in the 18th century. From the very first episode we can see the importance of this iconic place throughout the series. It is the first place Claire is taken to when she travels back in time. She will also visit it with Jamie in the 20th century. Do you want to relive some of those moments? (Entrance not included, £6)

CULROSS: The rustic village of Culross in the Kingdom of Fife is a clear example of what a village in Scotland would have looked like in the 17th and 17th centuries. Its market cross area is transformed into the fictional village of Cranesmuir where Geillis lives, and behind the impressive palace of Culross lies Claire's orchard. The village also lends itself as the setting for Jacobite camp and improvised hospital scenes (garden entrance not included, £3.50).

FALKLAND: You can recreate the first scene of the series in Falkland, a quiet, friendly village that doubles as Inverness in the 1940s and 1960s. In the town square you can see the Coventanter Hotel which represents Mrs Baird's little hotel; Bruce's fountain where Jamie's ghost looks into Claire's room: other streets were used in the filming of the second season.
