Wader Walk
The Wader Walk will take us along the shore to look at the variety of waders and other wildlife found in Orkney during the winter months.
Our wildlife walks are at a relaxed pace allowing us time to enjoy the wildlife and scenery. There are two different locations for the Wader Walk and we will choose which depending on the tide times:
Sands of Evie – This is a linear walk (there and back the same way), which follows a quiet road and track above the Sands of Evie. From here, we have good views of the waders using the beach and feeding along the tideline. On a clear day there are good views over to the island of Eynhallow. Walk Length up to 2 miles and 2-3 hours.
Newark Bay, Deerness – This is a linear walk (there and back the same way) which follows a mixture of tracks and paths above Newark Bay. We will stop to look at some of the birds feeding on the beach, and admire the views over to Copinsay. This is a good place to see seals and other wildlife. Walk Length up to 2 miles and 2-3 hours.
Please wear walking boots or wellies and bring warm waterproof clothing. You will also need your own binoculars if you have them. More information on where to meet and what to bring will be provided with your booking confirmation.
