Wilderness Hiking, Vikings & Whisky

Walking Argyll & The Isles - Heritage, Seabirds and Uisge Beatha This is the perfect trip for the curious who want to have it all: be active and in nature, to learn about Scotland's fascinating history, which includes whisky and explore the Hebrides.

The Coast and Islands of Argyll

Scotland's rugged Atlantic west coast has been carved into a spectacular seascape of deep, fjord-like lochs fringed by green, beautiful islands and surrounded by rugged Highland mountains. Together with Scotland's finest Atlantic oak forests meeting the rolling Atlantic, these are stunning landscapes with a wealth of wildlife to explore.

Once a busy sea route, the Argyll coast is home to Scotland's richest prehistoric landscape, where the Norse Vikings established themselves as Lords of the Isles and where Irish vassals created Scotland's first small kingdom of Dal Riata and brought early Christianity to Scotland.

Hike along glittering sea lochs, explore the rich heritage of this coastal region and celebrate your adventures by sampling some of Scotland's boldest and most delicious Scotch on the famous whisky island of Islay.

Wildlife

The Hebrides offer excellent wildlife opportunities: look out for white-tailed eagles, gannets, guillemots and otters, and maybe even a beaver.
