What to expect
In an encouraging atmosphere, you will have the opportunity to learn basic birding skills and wildlife knowledge as you ramble over lush woodland soil with your guide. This walking tour is perfect for anyone who enjoys learning about wildlife in a relaxed practice-based environment. Depending on what we see on the day, we will focus on tits, finches, thrushes and woodland mammals like red deer. Also, learn about Scotland's rainforest habitat! We will be walking at a moderate pace with frequent stops. Get ready for a relaxed woodland walk sprinkled with bird facts and practical nature skills. You will also be treated to some light refreshments as you take in the natural beauty around you. Local heritage will also be showcased. An old mill building on Ballindalloch Highland Estate is one fascinating site you will see.
Focus points
Your guide will share top tips to help you accurately identify birds wherever you are in the world!
  • Plumage: What the bird looks like when you are close enough to see it by eye or binoculars.
  • Song: What the bird sounds like and the meaning behind different calls.
