Lewis Grassic Gibbon (1901 - 1935) is most famous for his novel Sunset Song, from his trilogy A Scots Quair. You can find out more about him at the Grassic Gibbon Centre, which features a fascinating exhibition, a café and a gift shop. Grassic Gibbon is buried (under his real name - James Leslie Mitchell) in a little graveyard overlooking Bervie Water.
Arbuthnott is also home to Arbuthnott House with its beautiful 17th century gardens.
