Cardenden is a former mining town 4 miles north east of Cowdenbeath in west Fife.
Found to the south of the River Ore, Cardenden is the birthplace of Ian Rankin, author of the Rebus detective novels. This is celebrated in the name of Ian Rankin Court, a street nearby Cardenden Train Station.
Attractions in Cardenden include Bowhill Leisure Centre, which boasts a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gymnasium, and is great fun for the whole family.
Auchterderran Golf Course is also found in Cardenden. Established in 1904, this beautiful 9-hole golf course welcomes visitors and features a club house with a licensed bar.
