The parish of Firth lies between Kirkwall and Stromness on the north shoreline of the Bay of Firth.
The islands of Damsay and Holm of Grimbister, which lie in the Bay of Firth, are also in the parish of Firth. It is in the west of the mainland island, lying south of the parish of Rendall, east of Harray and Stenness, north of Orphir and west of St Ola. The largest town in the parish is Finstown.
There are beautiful beaches along the Bay of Firth where, if you are lucky, you may spot dolphins and other bird and sea life. At the Binsgarth Woods in Finstown, there is a designated path that leads you through one of Orkney’s few natural wooded areas.
Visitors will also find a wide range of accommodation and holiday lets throughout the area. Contact a Visitor Information Centre for more information on travel options, accommodation, places to eat and more.
