The settlement is located next to the First Churchill Barrier - a causeway linking Mainland Orkney to the nearby island of Lamb Holm. St Mary's is the venue for a variety of water based sports and has an annual regatta in July. The village has a range of self-catering chalets, overnight lodges and B&Bs available.
