It’s a small area, with only a few hundred people, only a few miles from Edinburgh. Humbie is an old settlement, formerly part of the Barony of Keith, with several old buildings related to his history.
Close by, you’ll find the Keith Marischal, a category-B listed building that is a fine example of the Baronial architectural house, towards the north of the town. The local church, Humbie Parish Church, was built in the 18th century, and later adapted to echo the gothic style. It still holds services today and though in its past it’s changed its Church Union several times, is today Church of Scotland. Haide Castle, a 14th century fortification, is within walking distance and is open to the public.
