Kildonan lies on the south east coast of Arran, and is named after St Donan, who lived there in the 16th century.
A small ruined castle is situated on a raised beach behind the village. The beach is one of the most beautiful on the Isle of Arran.
The Kildonan Hotel overlooks Pladda Island and Ailsa Craig and serves a selection of seafood and other local specialities in the dining room. There is a village shop and a campsite within the village.
