The settlement of Rapness is located at the southern tip of the island of Westray in the northern Orkney Isles.
Rapness is one of the main Ferry terminals of the isle of Westray. The settlement overlooks the Rapness Sound which separates Westray from the small island of Faray to the south.
To the north of Rapness is Castle o’ Burrian and Stanger Head. The Castle o’ Burrian is one of the best places to see puffins in Orkney. There are also hundreds of nesting fulmers, razorbills, guillemots, kittiwakes and shags at Stranger Head.
The main village on the island, Pierowell, is located nearly 7 miles to the north of Rapness Pier. There is a regular bus service running between the two. For Current fare and timetable information, and for bookings, contact Orkney Ferries - http://www.orkneyferries.co.uk/
