Straiton is a pretty village situated on the River Girvan, south east of Maybole in South Ayrshire.
The surrounding area is known as ‘rambling territory’ due to the large number of walks available. There are several signposted walks that start from the village.
The town itself is home to a village shop, a traditional pub which serves great food and a coffee shop.
The magnificent Blairquhan Castle is one of the finest Georgian castles in Scotland and lies a mile north west of the village. This charming estate was used to film The Queen, which starred Dame Helen Mirren and won countless awards.
