Thanks for taking the time to look at our recently renovated holiday house, Auchnascraw Mill. We have been welcoming guests from near and far since August 2015. We hope you like what you see! Our family relocated from Vermont, USA in 2007 to be closer to my Scottish husband's family. Auchnascraw Mill was a derelict Mill for many years, but with the help and vision of family and friends . . . the dream to renovate it came to life after a few years of planning and finally renovation thanks to a local building company during 2014 and 2015. Auchnascraw Mill was built around the 1830s and was used for grinding oats. It was a working Mill until the mid 1940s. Lots of original features of the Mill have been incorporated into the renovation to maintain its character. Look for details like the exposed stone walls, use of millstones, flagstones and gear wheel. Keep cozy with the underfloor heating throughout the downstairs and relax in front of the wood stove while enjoying panoramic views out each and every window. The Mill has been decorated with high-quality furnishings and accessories throughout. The fully equipped kitchen has all of your cooking needs. You will sleep well in either of our comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super-king size pillow-top mattress and sofa for lounging. The second bedroom has two single beds with pillow-top mattresses that can be zipped together to create another super-king size bed. There is also a sofa bed that can be made into a king-size bed between the two bedrooms. We do not have land line phone but you are welcome to use ours if needed. There is now a 4G EE mobile mast in the Braes, so you may be able to get a signal (depending on your mobile provider). We also now have 4G Unlimited mobile broadband at the mill, which is suitable for streaming, gaming and working from home. The Mill is also equipped for family fun with lots of games, books and toys to enjoy. The perfect location for a staycation and workcation. There is a washer and dryer in our utility room provided for your convenience.
The Mill is situated in what is locally known as “The Braes of Glenlivet,” braes meaning hills, which you can see in every direction. There are many things to do right on your doorstep, from walking, cycling and wildlife watching to just relaxing and enjoying the views of the surrounding Ladder Hills. You can walk to the Scalan and many other waymarked walking/cycling routes, including the Smugglers Trails.
The Mill is also centrally located for: walking, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, wildlife watching, whisky/distillery trails, skiing at the Lecht and Cairngorms, visiting the castle routes (Drumin, Corgarff, Ballindalloch and Balvenie to name a few), coastal trails, many towns and more!
