The beautiful Braes o' Balquhidder, 12 miles from Callander, were home to the great Scots hero Rob Roy MacGregor. A mile from his grave in the village of Balquhidder itself, this traditional, stone-built and delightful cottage, standing in its own, secluded grounds, is full of character and now extended and modernised to offer cosy and comfortable accommodation.
Many of Scotland's finest attractions are close by. Nearby Bens Vorlich, More and Stobinian will test your hill-walking mettle and Loch Earn (5m) is renowned for its sailing and wind surfing facilities.
The Trossachs and Loch Katrine are 25 miles to the south, while a 10 mile drive over Glen Ogle will bring you to Killin and Loch Tay, or drive to Oban and the west coast in little over an hour. Excellent food can be had locally in many fine restaurants and there are shops at Lochearnhead (5m).
