Kelpies Cottage is situated in Glentrool, in Galloway Forest Park. It's a beautiful, peaceful, rural location. We are the only village in our International Dark Sky Park which is why we get such awesome starry nights.
Glentrool is very much about the outdoors, with plenty of biking, wild swimming and walking nearby. We are right in the heart of the stunning Galloway Forest with trees, streams, lochs and mountains right on the doorstep. We are also proud to be part of Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Community. As a Biosphere Certified Business, we aim for the highest standards of sustainability.
Kelpies Cottage is a single-storey bungalow which is simply, but colourfully decorated with comfortable beds. It has oil-fired central heating, and a log burning stove in the living room for those cosy winter nights.
The kitchen is modern and has cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, kettle, toaster, and dishwasher. The hot water is an "on-demand" system. The bathroom has a large bath with shower over.
Dogs or other pets are welcome, but please keep them off all furniture and out of the bedrooms. The back garden is fully enclosed for your furry friends' safety.
The front bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage. The rear bedroom has a double bed and a single bed. There is a wee conservatory off the back bedroom which looks out over the garden. Fresh bed linen is provided for each guest along with a bath towel for each guest and hand towels for the kitchen and bathroom. If you need more towels, please feel free to ask.
In the living room there are a couple of sofas and a table/chairs for meals, but while there is a TV provided in the cottage, there is no TV reception (or licence) at the cottage. We do, however, have a Roku streaming device and DVD player so you can watch DVDs or log in to your own Netflix/Prime accounts.
There is free Wi-Fi inside the cottage.
There is secure bike storage (a shed!) and bike wash facilities (a hose!).
