The charming village of Gattonside lies just across the tweed from the historic town of Melrose, some 35 miles south of Edinburgh in the midst of the beautiful Border country.
Winding lanes lead down to the river and a chain footbridge which links Gattonside with the town. Tucked away along one such lane, in a quiet and secluded position, is Hollybank Barn, a magnificent conversion of an old steading, beautifully designed, appointed and extremely comfortable. Outside, there is a patio, garden area (furniture) and ample parking.
Melrose, with its famous ruined abbey, has excellent eating places and interesting shops. Gattonside itself boasts two prestigious restaurants, both within a few minutes’ walk of the cottage.
Sports and activities are well catered for in the area, also has a wealth of stately homes, castles, ruined abbeys and peel towers to visit. The coast is easily accessible, and Edinburgh is but an hour away.
