The Maltings is set in the beautiful Rhins of Galloway (5mls Portpatrick/3mls Stranraer)providing accommodation for 2-10 people plus cot and up to 3 dogs. Three dogs welcome but if all large dogs 3rd is £10 weekly.
The accommodation is set over two floors and has electric central heating with feature fireplace.
On the ground floor 2 steps to entrance hallway, large lounge/dining room with patio doors overlooking the rear garden, kitchen/dining room, utility room, double bedroom, twin or superking bedroom, second sitting room (gust bed possible), bathroom with bath, WC and WHB.
Door to hallway and upper landing with child gate and a further double bedroom with a cot, and a triple bedroom with double and single beds. There is a large shower room with WHB and WC.
Both lounges have freeview TV, DVD, and Wi-Fi is available throughout.
The kitchen is well equipped with double oven cooker, fridge freezer, (further freezer in garage), microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, bread maker, slow cookers, mixer, and the utility room has a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher with laundry facilities. Two high chairs are available with baby bath, nappy bin etc. provided. All linen towels and if necessary cot bedding for cot and travel cot (by arrangement) is provided. If booking with 2 infants then only one can be added to the total occupancy number. We have 2 guest beds and again only one can be added to total occupancy number.
The garden has extensive flat gardens with gates to woodland shrubberies above. There are two sets of patio furniture and a gas barbecue in the garage where bikes, outdoor sports, golf equipment, muddy boots and jackets can be stored and dried.
The Maltings is on the Stranraer/Portpatrick bus route and if arriving from the north take the Glasgow/Stranraer A77 or from the south Dumfries/Stranraer A75.
The house has very private safe enclosed gardens for you to enjoy and is near to the picturesque harbour village of Portpatrick with RNLI station, golf course, tennis courts, putting green, bowls and seafront restaurants, 1 mile from the Southern Upland Way, and 3mls from Stranraer with shops, seafront walks and parks, eateries, swimming pool, theatre and marina.
The Maltings provides easy access to the Mull of Galloway lighthouse and RSPB centre where guillemots, kittiwakes, peregrines and puffins, seals and porpoises can be seen. Due to the mild Gulf Stream climate there are many lush gardens with semi-tropical plants and visitor centres such as Logan Botanic and Castle Kennedy, Glenwhan and Dunskey Glen.
History abounds from the Whithorn Story (earliest Christian community in Scotland) to standing stones, clifftop castles such as Dunskey at Portpatrick and stories of pirates bringing wine and silk from France.
There are lots of outdoor activities from friendly dog walking, 4 nearby golf courses, shooting, fishing, biking and the Galloway Forest Park famous for Dark Skies and Outdoor adventure and hill walking is within easy access. The beaches range from long golden sands to secluded coves and wild cliffs with wonderful views to Ireland, Mull of Kintyre and Ailsa Craig.
We have provided extensive information about all activities in the area, dog friendly places, children's entertainment, and adult adventures and local events. For something different take a fast ferry to Ireland from Cairnryan for the day or go to Girvan and take a small boat to Ailsa Craig an ancient extinct volcano famous for curling stones.
We have provided indoor and outdoor games and a library of books for your use if you just want to chill and relax with a bottle of wine or a wee dram and enjoy the gardens.
