Opening the doors of Johnstons of Elgin reveals a 222-year-old story of Scottish innovation and luxury, celebrating the skills of our own craftspeople and generations of herding communities from Mongolia, China, Afghanistan, Australia and Peru, and of natural fibres reaching their full potential.
We bring the raw fibre to our mill on the banks of the River Lossie, Elgin, where we clean and soften it with the purest Scottish water, spinning, weaving and knitting cashmere, vicuña, merino and lambswool in the only vertical process of its kind in Scotland.
Drawing on our archives for inspiration, we celebrate our heritage in a fusion of historic designs and contemporary patterns, showcasing our unique weaving capabilities and design excellence. Rich jacquards, traditional tartans, contemporary checks and masterful structures maintain the quality standard of Johnstons of Elgin, established in 1797 and essential to the brand today. New innovations and techniques are expressed in wovens and knitwear with supersoft handfeel, elaborate technical patterns and bold graphic structures that evidence our peerless craft and skill.
This dedication and skill has been recognised with The Royal Warrant of Appointment as manufacturers of Estate Tweed to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, Duke of Rothesay.
