Discover the man and his genius in the beautiful village of Alloway. See the world’s most important collection of Burns artefacts and works in our interactive museum, and visit the humble cottage where he was born and raised.

Our flagship museum starts a journey that weaves through the village, along the Poet's Path, taking you from historical buildings to landmarks known to Burns. At the end, you'll step inside Burns Cottage where Robert was born in 1759. Whether you're a die-hard Burnsian or brand new to the bard, a day immersing yourself here will open your eyes and ears to an enduring hero of Scotland's literary heritage.

You won't be stuck for fun family things to do here. The displays in the museum and Burns Cottage include plenty of hands-on and interactive activities and more than 5,000 Burns artefacts including his handwritten manuscripts. Every hour, one of Burns's best-loved works is brought to life on screen. Visit Burns Monument, Alloway's classically styled tribute to Robert, set in beautiful commemorative gardens. And don't miss Alloway Auld Kirk and the Brig o' Doon, immortalised in Burns's poem Tam o' Shanter.

Call into our shops for great Scottish gifts and unique ranges from local suppliers, and treat yourself to some tasty home baking and delicious hot food in the cafe.

Our Burns-themed play area, Scots Wa-Hey, is perfect for young visitors and is full of fun features. In the garden adjacent to the cafe, it is the perfect place for visitors young and old to relax, have fun and unleash their inner playfulness! Inspired by its historic surroundings, it includes a mini Burns Cottage, Tam o’ Shanter zip wire, Witches’ Cauldron roundabout and Auld Kirk climbing wall. You will also find the creative use of Scots language throughout.
