This is a scenic and interesting walk which starts and finishes in Aberfeldy. It takes in the little villages of Weem and Dull, and a walk along the banks of the River Tay.
The walk starts and finishes in the bustling Highland Perthshire town of Aberfeldy. We cross the River Tay on the historic Wade bridge and look around the little village of Weem with its old coaching inn. We then use paths that climb up the south facing slopes above the village, through the deserted steadings at Rawer and on up to a quiet moor with great views of the Glen Lyon hills and Schiehallion. We then drop into the little village of Dull – twinned with the US town of Boring! If we have the time, we'll call into the cafe at Highland Safaris. We then walk along the lovely banks of the River Tay back to Aberfeldy.
The walk follows mainly good paths and tracks, but with some wetter ground at times. We start and finish by the Black Watch Memorial on Taybridge Drive in Aberfeldy. We will meet up at this location at 930am and we should finish by about 430pm. The walk is 19km with 500m of ascent, and will take between 6 and 7 hours.
You will need to bring with you a pair of walking boots or good trekking shoes, waterproofs, a small rucksack, some warm spare clothing, walking poles may be useful, hand sanitiser, a face mask and something to eat and drink. This is quite a long walk, so you will need to bring plenty of food and drink with you. You can find more information about what to bring with you on the website page for the tour. Sorry, but no dogs.
