Being a circular route this cycle run can be started from any of the small communities alomg the way but wherever you start an anticlockwise circuit is recommended for the best views. Starting from the west end of Achiltibuie, follow the road to the right at the junction and continue past Loch Vatachan and Loch Raa to another junction. Bear left here and cross a small stream which flows out to the beautiful wide sands of Achnahaird Bay which are easily visible to the right.
The route continues past the houses at Achnahaird before climbing gently across heather moorland heading for the other side of the Rubha Mor peninsula. Rounding the corner of a small hill the views suddenly open up with the summer isles below and the hills around Gairloch beyond - surely one of the best roadside views in Scotland! At the bottom of the hill a left turn leads into Altandhu and on towards Polbain and the start at Achiltibuie. However, if time permits it's also worth making the short, signposted detour to Old Dornie harbour which adds a further 2 miles to the route.
