RSPB Scotland Brodgar nature reserve

This RSPB Scotland nature reserve offers a wealth of wildlife watching opportunities alongside the iconic Ring of Brodgar. Could there be a more spellbinding and mystical setting?

This reserve surrounds the Neolithic Ring of Brodgar. Visit during the summer and hear the unmistakable call of the curlews and the drumming of the snipe. You should also be able to see lapwings, dunlins, redshanks and oystercatchers and look out for finches and skylarks while following the circular path.

Everywhere you look there's wildlife, and wildfowl including shovelers, teals and mallards, all of which breed nearby. Guided walks are available at certain times of the year and are pitched at a family-friendly level and the walking is on even footpaths.
