Vertrekkend vanuit Mallaig, laat deze cruise van 3 nachten je enkele van de mooiste kustlandschappen zien die het eiland Skye en de Hooglanden te bieden hebben, en niet te vergeten de verbazingwekkende dieren in het wild!
15th September to 18th September 2021
3rd October to 6th October 2021About
We will be departing from the small port of Mallaig, located at the end of the incredibly scenic 'Road to the Isles' (the A830 from Fort William), and also the West Highland Railway line (made famous by the Harry Potter films featuring the 'Hogwarts Express' steam train going over the Glenfinnan viaduct - you can do the same taking The Jacobite from Fort William!) Two wonderful ways to arrive whichever you choose!
Our itinerary centres around enjoying the wealth of beautiful and dramatic highland and island scenery in the area, visiting the famous Isle of Skye and dramatic & remote Highland sea lochs, searching for some of their wild inhabitants such as otters and eagles.
You will enjoy freshly cooked meals served in our comfortable saloon on board, and then fall asleep in your cabin to the gentle lapping of the sea and the calls of seabirds and seals.
Our experienced wildlife guides will be keeping their eyes peeled for all the different species the area can offer whilst we are underway at sea, or on shore.
Please note that whilst we try to make these trips accessible to everyone, the boat is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the compact spaces and steep stairs descending to the cabins.Highlights
We will start with our very own mini ""Skyefari"" from Mallaig by boarding the Armadale ferry, arriving on Skye to be met by our own 4x4 vehicle and taken to Kylerhea with a visit to the otter hide there. While we can never guarantee otters or any of the other wildlife of course, there will be plenty of other flora and fauna to view such as seals, deer, herons and wading birds. Then it's over the turntable ferry to Glenelg (the last of its kind), a 1 hour downhill walk to visit the beautiful Sandaig Bay (which featured as 'Camusfearna' in the Ring of Bright Water by Gavin Maxwell) and meet the boat where we will board by dinghy. A welcome aboard MV Monadhliath and settle in before departing for our first night in the scenic area of Loch Hourn. Great photo opportunities are to be found in this most dramatic of sea lochs and a chance to go ashore and wander to the isolated villages of Arnisdale and nearby Corran which sit on the shores of Loch Hourn. All your luggage will be taken care of and delivered to the boat.
A chance to experience Camusfearna again, the location of Gavin Maxwell’s famous Ring of Bright Water book, to walk or find a quiet spot to site and watch with your camera. This is a most peaceful location with mountain and forest views all around. From here we will steam north through the Sound of Sleat and arrive at Loch Duich, home to the enigmatic and romantic Eilean Donan castle, giving you a unique view from the water. We will overnight in the Kyle of Lochalsh area.
Once again, we will be picked up by our 4x4 and taken on a Skye trip for a chance to see the interior of the island and look out for some of its wildlife and views. We will meet the boat again at Isleornsay, one of the most picturesque villages on the south coast of Skye, an area often referred to as the 'garden of Skye', with lush green fields, forests and hillsides. We will meet our boat and head for our third iconic sea loch, Loch Nevis. On our last evening we will go ashore and visit 'The Forge', the UKs most remote pub(!) located on the Knoydart peninsula. This area cannot be reached by road and is only accessible by foot or boat.
After breakfast we will soak in a last look at Skye as we take in the mountain and seascapes of the Western Highlands on our way back to Mallaig, arriving around midday.Route
