Beers and ales
As well as the wonderful whisky coast, Argyll & The Isles also produces many fine craft ales. Sample quality ales such as Avalanche and Holly Daze from the independent Fyne Ales at Cairndow or try the wonderfully named Puggled Stout from Oban Bay Brewery. The two-and-a-half hour ferry ride from Oban will take you to the tiny island of Colonsay which is home to the world’s smallest island brewery, where you can sample delicious beers and ales.
It may be better know for its whisky, but the Isle of Islay is also home to Islay Ales, the only brewery on the island. Don't miss the excellent selection of handcrafted ales including the award-winning Black Rock Ale.
