Bursting with distilleries, Argyll & The Isles is a great region to uncover the secrets behind the art of whisky creation and boasts no fewer than 14 distilleries, each of which are inspired by the region's distinctive culture.

There is nothing quite like the taste of a dram of west coast whisky and what could be better than enjoying it at the source?

Take time to chat about whisky with the hosts at Oban Distillery, or enjoy the unique characteristics of whiskies from Tobermory on Mull, the Isle of Jura and Springbank in Campbeltown.

The picturesque island of Islay is a whisky-lover’s paradise and is home to eight working distilleries who take pride in producing world-class single malts. From the gentle flavours of Bunnahabhain Distillery to the mature blends of Lagavulin and the balanced, deep and complex aromas of Ardbeg, few places in the world can offer such variety.

Discover the secrets of how these distinctive whiskies are produced on behind the scenes tours, including Bowmore Distillery, where visitors can see the traditional whisky-making process. The island's only independent distillery, Bruichladdich, still uses the original machinery from 1881 which includes an open mash tun and a belt-driven mill.
