For wildlife lovers, Aberdeen City and Shire offers a great range of attractions to let them indulge their passion.
There are varied selection of RSPB and other nature reserves across the region that provide great access to a fantastic selection of birds and mammals. The huge 'seabird cities' at the Troup Head and Fowlesheugh reserves are a major draw for birdwatchers, as is the National Nature Reserve at the Sands of Forvie, one of the country's largest dunes, where a variety of different species can be spotted amongst the varied habitats of river estuary, coastal cliffs, colourful moorland and beautiful golden sand dunes.
If you're lucky, you can spot eagles close up, ospreys fishing, or deer rutting at upland reserves such as the beautiful birch woods of the Muir of Dinnet while badgers, foxes, bats, red squirrels and numerous varieties of birds of prey can all be seen along the miles of waymarked and sign posted trails
Other must-see attractions include Macduff Marine Aquarium near Banff where you’ll see hundreds of local species or watch feeding time when divers take to the reef tank.
