Fancy a break from the busy city lifestyle? Then why not head to Scotland’s Speyside region for some dram sampling, sightseeing and outdoor activities!

Will Lyons (a columnist from the Wall Street Journal) recently spent a long weekend getting to know the area, which has 40 plus distilleries spread throughout its valleys and is home to some of the world’s most famous names in whisky.

His itinerary wasn’t just about sampling a wee dram here and there though, as he gives a glowing review on how much more the region has to offer:

But there is more to the region than just copper stills and the water of life. With a swathe of golf courses, wild, sandy beaches, spectacular scenery, world-class fly-fishing and historic monuments, it’s an ideal escape from the demands of city life.
