Come and celebrate World Snow Day on Sunday 19 January 2014 with a fantastic range of events at Scotland's snowsports centres, aimed at encouraging families to get out on the slopes. All events are weather and snow conditions dependent, so please check with the centres before you travel.

CairnGorm

The CairnGorm Mountain resort is running a special 'tri-try' day as part of their celebrations on World Snow Day.

Don't miss your chance to:

  • Try out some new skis or boards at a demonstation event
  • Try snowshoeing from CairnGorm's top station
  • Try ski racing at a dedicated coaching taster session

There will be entertainment throughout the day and an ice bar will be available for refreshments.

Glencoe

Enjoy a fun-filled family day on the snow at Glencoe, where all non-skiing children will get free access to the mountain.

And look out for:

  • Free sledging all day
  • 11.30am - show off your snowman building skills in a competition with prizes for everyone
  • 12.30pm - find out what's involved in building an igloo with a special demonstration
  • 1.30pm - try your hand at a UK first - Zibob racing (a fast-paced plastic sled) for both adults and children

Glenshee

Glenshee will hold a Winter Olympics-themed fancy dress fun race for all those aged 16 and under. It will include categories for established club racers and non-racers alike.

Other fun activities to look out for include:

  • Skiing and snowboarding taster sessions, available on a first come, first served basis
  • Ski and board demonstrations

Nevis Range

Join the World Snow Day celebrations at the Nevis Range and enjoy a great day out on the slopes with the activity programme below.

  • Ski or snowboard for the price of a gondola ticket - adults £11.50, children £6.75
  • Let your inspiration flow and sledge, ski or board in your best fancy dress oufit. Free hot chocolate will be available for the best costumes.
  • A snow sculpting competition will take place at 11am outside the Snowgoose Restaurant and Bar at the Nevis Range top station.

Snow Factor

Celebrate World Snow Day indoors at the exciting Snow Factor complex in Braehead and don't miss a packed programme for all the family.

  • Free taster lessons for skiing and snowboarding
  • Free kids sledging (must be booked with a paying adult)
  • Look out for special discounts for skiers and boarders on the Snow Factor main slope
