The region of Dundee & Angus has so much to offer cyclists. Choose from rugged coastlines and spectacular mountains to rolling landscapes, forestry tracks and way-marked bike trails, offering challenges to all abilities.
Starting in Kirriemuir, the birth place of Peter Pan creator JM Barrie, cycle the tranquil route to the beautiful Glen Isla through fertile farmland and woodland.
For a more relaxed cycle a section of National Cycle Route 1 runs about 20 miles along the coast from Arbroath to Dundee. Follow the trail to the shore and visit the seaside town of Carnoustie, made famous by its championship golf course. Continue along to the sandy beach of Monifieth and take in spectacular views across the water to Fife.
Similarly, the traffic-free path can be followed from Montrose and over the spectacular North Water Viaduct which is ideal for less experienced cyclists.
You can even explore the sites of Dundee on the specially made signposted cycle route which avoids main roads where possible. The Green Circular links the major parks and many places of interest right through the city, from the Camperdown Country and Wildlife Park, the scenic waterfront at Broughty Ferry and the city centre where you can visit the many museums and places of interest including the RRS Discovery.
