There are lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy across Aberdeen City and Shire. From ancient castles and wildlife reserves to country parks and more you’ll find great things to see and do across the region.

Home to an impressive 300 castles and Scotland’s only Castle Trail, Aberdeenshire clearly lives up to its epic title of ‘Castle Country’. Whether you want to see fairytale castles, historic ruins, elegant decor or dark fortresses, you'll find them here.

For those looking for a short, but scenic walk then why not choose a short forest trail or in Aberdeen city, take a stroll around Old Aberdeen and then down to the beachfront?

Whilst in Aberdeen, why not take advantage of free entry into Aberdeen Art Gallery, the Maritime Museum or the fascinating Provost Skene’s House? You can also learn the incredible story of one of the British Army’s most famous regiments at The Gordon Highlanders Museum. All are located within the city centre.

For a relaxing afternoon with the kids then head to the David Welch Winter Gardens. Based in Duthie Park, the 19th century Winter Gardens offers striking and colourful floral displays with exotic plants from across the world, flourishing in one of Europe’s largest indoor gardens.

The city is also home to Satrosphere, Scotland’s first science and discovery centre. With over 50 interactive and engaging hands-on exhibits and live science shows, you and your family will discover more about the world around you and the science of how things work. A great fun and educational day out!
